Gender-based violence: prevention, culture, accountability

To counter gender-based violence, it is not sufficient to tackle emergencies. We must go to work on the cultural, social and structural causes.
Violence against women – physical, psychological, economic and symbolic – remains rooted in an unequal vision of power relations between genders.
This is why we work on primary prevention, promoting a culture of respect, consent and equity. We raise awareness in educational settings, organisations and at local level, so that everyone is able to recognise the active role they play in effecting change. Responsibility is collective, and this is the only way to dismantle the dynamics that make violence so pervasive, and all too often normalise it.

The aim of this training is to understand how the language and words we use or encounter in everyday life can take the form of violence against women and how we may sometimes perpetrate it unintentionally.
