SEED Project

The SEED Project – Development, Education, Empowerment against Discrimination was created to support women and minors who are victims of violence and discrimination related to ethnicity, origin, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability.

Through awareness-raising, empowerment, and training activities, it promotes the recognition and prevention of violence, personal autonomy, conscious parenting, and more inclusive communities.

The SEED Project has the overall objective of “supporting women and minors who are victims of violence and those who are subjected to serious discrimination related to ethnicity, origin, religion, gender identity and sexual orientation, as well as physical and cognitive disabilities, both offline and online,” through:

  • Awareness-raising, training, and information activities on issues related to gender differences, discrimination, and the violence that stems from them.

  • Empowerment activities, emotional education, respect for differences. Rights awareness, and the promotion of active citizenship practices.

  • Building and/or strengthening more supportive and attentive communities.

The project is based on four areas of intervention:

  1. Facilitating the recognition and reporting of violence arising from discrimination;

  2. Developing self-esteem and economic independence in individuals at risk and/or victims of violence and/or discrimination;

  3. Providing training in positive parenting and supporting families in managing caregiving responsibilities;

  4. Educating and training new generations and adult professionals in caregiving roles to overcome stereotypes, prejudice, and gender-based violence, also from a transcultural perspective.

“C. has always been a good child, but since her little brother was born, she has started throwing tantrums. Attending the SEED parenting support sessions is helping my husband and me better understand her emotions, as well as our own, and to find ways to take care of them.”

"Spazio Libellula is like my grandmother; it makes me want to take action. Just having a place where I can meet new women and do small creative projects makes me feel active… it makes me feel that I can have opportunities for renewal."
